(This is so me BTW)
Yah for training! Erin Leppo Photography is making some HUGE changes and couldn’t be more excited about it! Oh Omgee…I am going to fill you in on some JUICY little secrets going on here behind the scenes, some secrets into my photography style, philosophy and a few ultra personal tid bits!
Here we go…Secrets UNLEASHED!
….We have a new addition to Erin Leppo Photography!!?!?!
I am bringing on my best friend, my partner in crime, my beautiful and oh so fun sister Lauren in to the Erin Leppo Photography team this wedding season (and hopefully future years to come)! She has stepped up to the plate and is now officially my second shooter!
Over the last few months I have been worrying, ok, tweaking out about who would be my second shooter this year. There were some really big shoes that needed to be filled (from the past years second). Picking a second shooter was one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make for my business. I had options of other local new photographers, friends and my sister-who ever it was going to be… That person needed to be someone who I completely trusted. My business, brand and customer service is something that I have been working on for the last 4 years. I have put in so much blood, sweat and tears into my business and brand. (Well, ok not blood) hah.
Lauren is the perfect person for the job. Besides being my best friend she is quite an amazing person. She is a middle school science teacher and is absolutely incredible with people. She has the gift of making everyone she comes into contact with feel empowered and beautiful. Which is a very important key to creating authentic and fun photos. She can bring out the vulnerability of a person in a photo.
Since I have decided that Lauren is a new and permanent addition to Erin Leppo Photography we have set up some practice shoots. Lauren is already very knowledgeable on photography and knows how to use aperture, shutter speed, iso, and all the differences of the lenses and such. But what we needed to do is be on board with what kind of pictures I want (and what my clients expect) and have a better knowledge of LIGHT.
There are a few things that are KEY to my photography style and creating the perfect customer experience! Here are a few examples: take home message:
- Have fun! If you as the photographer feels tense, seem stressed or even have an inkling of uncertainty, YOUR CLIENTS WILL KNOW AND will NOT trust you! (and will not be able to capture real and genuine photos)
- Which brings me to my second and oh so CRUCIAL point. If you find yourself feeling nervous or feel like things are going up into FLAMES?!? That is so totally normal. Take a moment, find some composure and fake it till you make it! I too STILL feel the stress.
- Find beautiful light. Ask someone at the wedding to be your test subject for a few shots and test the light from a few different angles. Straight on light from the sun is generally not the most pleasing.
- Connect with the client and coach them into pleasing poses. Not all bodies or faces are alike so why would we photograph them the same?
- I like giving my clients a pep talk before the shoot and give them continuous feedback through out the shoot. They seem to really appreciate it and respond well to it. Let them know what to expect out of the shoot
- HUGE: get the focus right and use a shallow depth of field
- Oh and again..have fun, create the ideal atmosphere and expect to make some mistakes…and when we do make mistakes. Learn from them and don’t make them twice.
Who took what photos??:
